Initially, the design and concept are curated in the workshop by talented Key West artists. Next, the initial pieces of glass are fused in a very hot kiln to achieve the varied effects necessary for the subsequent phase of glass fusing. These pieces are then added or cut using many specific instruments and integrated into functional items and artwork, which are subsequently fused in the kiln once again. Finally, the functional items are slumped in a mold to achieve their final shape during yet a third firing. This process is truly a labor-intensive work of love, showcasing the beauty of Key West Art.
